It was ostensibly about obscenity, but it was really about corruption and censorship - and in the end, justice prevailed. Last Monday, a Zambian court found journalist Chansa Kabwela not guilty of "distributing obscene material with intent to corrupt public morals."

Any temptation to believe that the Qatari relatives who snatched then successfully sought legal custody of 10-year-old Adam Jones might be misguided but decent people, disappeared from my mind over the last few days.

The Indian (was thought) as less than human and worthy only of extermination. We did shoot down defenceless men, and women and children at places like Camp Grant, Sand Creek, and Wounded Knee. We did feed strychnine to red warriors. We did set whole villages of people out naked to freeze in the iron cold of Montana winters. And we did confine thousands in what amounted to concentration camps.

It had all the markings of a perfect storm, a cool name, just the right intensity and hype - as well as a holiday to welcome its coming.
