Letters

 United in our grief

ANOTHER Blast in Pakistan, hundreds more killed unnecessarily. I wish to convey our condolences to our Pakistani brothers and sisters. I yearn for the day when even one unnecessary death is one too many.

I would like to specifically address two respondents, Ms Rana and Mr Quereshi. This was in the days after the Mumbai attacks. Their letters would start with the usual platitudes before degenerating into a very perverse "I have come to bury Caesar, not praise him" sort of diatribe getting really nasty in their India bashing.

As the case progressed with irresponsible statements from some politicians in Pakistan, the tenor became even more venomous.

Mercifully no one from the other side took up issue with them and the letters ceased. Luckily, even in the current instance, there is no Pakistan bashing and we are all united in our grief as fellow human beings.

I hope our two friends have realised that no atrocity is justified and somebody else's misfortune is not a reason for gloating.
