 Flower arranging tips by experts... 

HINTS and tips on flower arranging will be presented at the Bahrain Garden Club's (BGC) weekly meeting at its clubhouse in Juffair today.

The talk on pot-et-fleur (flower arrangement in a container) will be presented by BGC member Mary Yateem.

Pot-et-fleur is one of the competition categories of the BGC's 43rd Annual Amateur Flower and Vegetable Show.

The show is one of the features of the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show 2008, which will be held from February 22 to 24 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The event is organised by the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and support of his wife and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women, Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

The lecture will be held at 4pm and all are welcome.

Embassy open house

THE monthly Indian Embassy open house will take place at its premises in Adliya from 8am to 11am on Friday. Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty and senior officials will be on hand to address any problems being faced by workers and provide information about the government's general amnesty for expatriates.

People attending are requested to bring along documentation relating to their cases and Indian associations are invited to send a representative.

Autism under spotlight

AUTISM will come under the spotlight at a two-day forum opening at the Bahrain Medical Society in Juffair on Wednesday.

The Autistic Child's Forum will feature guest speaker and autism expert Dr Yasser Al Fahad from Saudi Arabia.

Dr Al Fahad is renowned for his work in supporting autistic children including being given an International Inflight award and International Flight Catering Association award for services to passengers with special needs.

He is also the author of various publications including Why Does Tariq Behave This Way? and Realistic Stories in Supporting My Autistic Child.

The expert has delivered various lectures about the importance of diet for autistic children and helped form the Saudi Arabian Society for Autism.

The two-day forum is held under the patronage of Health Minister Dr Faisal Al Hamer and organised by Wide Horizons Events Planning and Management.
